The Mabinogion is the earliest collection of prose found in Britain, compiled in the 12th century from spoken word.
They are stories of pre Christian Celtic mythology, and Anglo-French influences.
Dormarch, according to the Black Book of Carmarthen, is said to be the hound of Gwyn ap Nudd, (although formerly belonged to Maelgwyn Gwynedd).
Gwyn ap Nudd was the king of the 'fair folk' and ruler of the 'Annwn' , a pack of spectral dogs who howled on the mountain Cader Idris every Halloween, bringing death to anyone who heard them. The Annwn were also part of the 'Wild Hunt", escorting the souls of soldiers off the battlefield.
